Limits and what the API does not do

  • It is read and generate only. Templates are created, edited and saved in PaperClerk; the API cannot create, edit or delete them, and generated documents cannot be edited or deleted through it.
  • No rate limit is enforced today. Keep bursts reasonable; a limit will be published here before it is enforced.
  • Request bodies are capped at 1 MB and pages at 200 rows. PDF download URLs expire after a minute.
  • There are no webhooks yet. To find out about new documents, poll the documents list with from set to your last check.
  • A key opens one workspace with admin-level access, as the admin who created it. There are no read-only or per-template keys yet.
